This month, St. Andrews was proud to host the sixth annual Morgan and Friends Fight Cancer Tournament. Each year, St. Andrews Resident Touring Professional Morgan Pressel and fellow LPGA superstars host the tournament in order to further the fight against breast cancer. This year’s event raised $540,000, and to date funds raised entirely through the generosity of St. Andrews Country Club members and various sponsors of the Morgan Pressel Foundation totals $2,740,000.
Morgan Pressel partnered with Michael Israel, internationally renowned performance artist, and LPGA Tour stars Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson and St. Andrews Country Club members to raise funds to support the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan, research initiatives and other breast cancer related projects. Each year the event enjoys significant growth from St. Andrews Country Club member participation, sponsors and donations.
Pressel said, “I am so appreciative of the support from my fellow St. Andrews members who continually amaze me with their generosity towards the foundation and the fight against breast cancer. I also can’t thank the Morgan Pressel Foundation committee enough for their commitment to creating an outstanding event year after year. The record funds raised this year are due a large part to Paula, Brittany, Lexi and Michael and their participation and generosity of their time, and I thank you all.â€
The event kicked off Sunday evening with an exclusive cocktail reception, dinner and silent and live auctions including a spectacular performance by Michael Israel who created five paintings for the auction. Monday winning bidders played holes with an LPGA star and enjoyed an incredible golf exhibition put on by Morgan & her Friends, entertaining more than 150 club members with anecdotes about their career, hitting shots and sharing tips with the members.
Craig D. Martin, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager at St. Andrews Country Club summarized, “We are proud of Morgan, her foundation and all of the St. Andrews Country Club members for putting together another first-class golf tournament and fund raising effort. It is hard to keep topping the previous year’s event but Morgan and her teams continue to expand participation and funds raised. I am always impressed by the professionalism and five-star logistics executed by the foundation and our professional staff.â€
At St. Andrews, our members take their commitment to the community seriously. We were proud to once again partner with Morgan and her fellow LPGA professionals, and we look forward to continuing this partnership for years to come!
