We’ve told you all about our upcoming $15 million club improvement project—and today we are excited to announce that we have selected Weitz Construction to handle the construction. As you know, this project includes redesign of multiple areas including the clubhouse, two restaurants, main entry features and landscaping, and the recreation and aquatic center. The construction improvement plan is expected to take three phases of development with a target completion date of November 2014.
The Weitz Company of today descends from a small carpentry shop founded in 1855 in Fort Des Moines, Iowa by Charles H. Weitz, an entrepreneurial German immigrant. As the construction company grew, Weitz handed down his craft and sense of values and quality to his sons, who in turn passed the family business on to their children for four generations.
As you know, at St. Andrews we take our responsibility to our members, our community, and our environment seriously—and we insist that our partners do, as well. Weitz Construction is guided by a number of “core values” which we found to be particularly impressive. And having worked with them in the past, we know that they take these values seriously. They are:
Honesty and Integrity – “We deal honestly and fairly. Integrity and adoption of a high ethical standard of conduct are crucial in dealing with clients, designers, subcontractors, vendors and each other.”
Respect for People – “We value relationships. We strive for a friendly, cooperative, informal and safe workplace, where trust, openness, and respect for individuals are a matter of course.”
Performance with Absolute Reliability – “We aim to be the best in our various businesses and in the markets we serve. We will achieve this by solving customers’ problems and meeting their needs through superior performance, with absolute reliability.”
Nurturing Personal Growth – “We encourage individual growth: growth through training, career development opportunities, and feedback on performance. We reward growth by emphasizing promotion from within. We depend upon and attempt to foster long-term employee relationships.”
We’re extremely excited to be working with Weitz Construction—and we know that you are going to love their work. If you’d like to learn more about them, visit their website at http://www.weitz.com.
